I had the pleasure of visiting the Quan AM Temple today to attend the Dharma Talk in English. I was amazingly surprised that there was a diverse mix of attendees to include Vietnamese, Blacks, Mexican, Whites as well as Hindus. The session as advertised was lead in English and was very enlightening for me since it was my first time attending an actual service. The Heart Sutra Chant in addition to other chants were very calming and soothing. The leader of the group enlightened us about the Buddist mindset of "letting go" because all things are temporary and do not actual belong to us. That our bodies are somewhat of a temple that should be norished with proper food, guarding what we read or watch on TV so that we do not corrupt our minds, safe guarding how we treat and respond to others....as it all has an effect on us enternally. WOW... I still have questions so needless to say I will be attending again to receive additional enlightenment.

The session was followed by a wonderful meal and very pleasant interactions with other attendees at the temple. Then we watched a movie regarding the "Four Noble Truths". I left the temple with several items as a reminder of my visit... vegatable dishes that were for sale, a soup dish, a huge calendar and a displate plate with a holder. The people at the temple as well as visitors were found as on a previous visit, to be very kind, open and generous....making this another pleasant experience. Thank you Quan Am for opening your doors and hearts to me as it is greatly appreciated.
